Explore Sustainability in Audiovisual Media: FAMU Opens the Second Year of Its Lifelong Learning Courses
On the autumn of 2026, the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) will launch the second edition of its lifelong learning courses, offering comprehensive education on environmental sustainability in the audiovisual sector. The courses are designed primarily for professionals working in film and television production, members of festival and non-profit organizations, and anyone looking to specialize in sustainability within their professional practice.
Participants who successfully complete the courses will receive internationally recognised micro-credentials. Classes will take place between October and December 2026.

Introduction to Sustainability in the Audiovisual Industry
This intensive course provides an introduction to sustainability as a key framework for the present and future of the audiovisual sector. The course will be held over a single weekend and is tentatively scheduled for early October 2026.

Sustainability Consultancy I: Development, Dramaturgy and Curation of Audiovisual Content
The first course in the sustainability consultancy track focuses on teaching participants how to systematically reduce the environmental and social impacts of audiovisual projects from the earliest stages of development while enhancing their positive contribution to society. Participants will gain practical tools, methods and decision-making frameworks for sustainable dramaturgy, content curation and collaboration with creative teams.
The course lasts two days and is tentatively planned for mid-October 2026.
Tuition fee: CZK 6,000
Sustainability Consultancy II: Production Practice
The second course in the sustainability consultancy track introduces practical methods for making the work of both creative and technical film crew departments more environmentally sustainable.
The course will take place over two weekends in October 2026.
Tuition fee: CZK 6,500
Sustainability Consultancy III: Communication, Data and Reporting
The final course in the sustainability consultancy track offers a comprehensive overview of carbon footprint reduction methods, CO₂ calculators, certification standards, and data collection and evaluation.
The course will be held over a single weekend and is tentatively scheduled for early November 2026.

Climate Storytelling for Everyone
This course explores the climate crisis as a powerful source of dramatic situations and storytelling opportunities, demonstrating how it can be creatively addressed across genres and narrative formats. Participants will learn how to work with climate-related themes in screenwriting practice, including the use of a screenwriting checklist and an understanding of how development-stage decisions influence the environmental impact of audiovisual works.
Classes will run from mid-October to early December 2026.

Special Package: Sustainability Consultant in Audiovisual Media
Participants interested in completing all three Sustainability Consultancy courses can take advantage of a discounted tuition fee of CZK 13,000. The courses are designed to build on one another both thematically and chronologically, providing comprehensive training for sustainability consultancy across all stages of audiovisual production, from development to distribution. Each course may also be attended separately.
