Inside CME Content Academy’s Unique Program

Inside CME Content Academy’s Unique Program

CME Content Academy, a collaborative project by TV Nova and TV Markíza, offers a unique opportunity for aspiring television professionals. Hosted at the Television Institute, the program combines theoretical lectures with hands-on experience, aiming to equip the next generation with the skills necessary for a successful career in the television industry. Here’s what you can expect from the program.

Before the academic year begins, attending the Serial Killer festival is recommended. This event, which runs for a few weeks before the trimester starts, allows you to meet fellow students and future instructors. Organized by the same team as the Television Institute, the festival features screenings of new series from Europe and domestically, engaging lectures, and numerous networking opportunities.

Theoretical Training Begins

The program starts in October with a trimester of theoretical training in Brno. The first year focuses on nonfiction content, covering everything from reality shows to live-action documentaries. In the second year, the focus shifts to fiction. Classes are held Monday to Thursday, typically from 9 am to 5 pm, with Fridays dedicated to home preparation or sessions with international speakers. Industry experts, both local and international, lead the classes.

Hands-On Practical Experience

After the theoretical trimester, you will engage in practical experience. This phase provides an inside look at upcoming network projects, allowing you to understand how TV shows are produced. You’ll have the chance to make new contacts and explore various roles to identify what interests you most. Internships take place in Prague, Bratislava, and even internationally. Our students have visited filming locations for shows like Survivor in the Dominican Republic, Love Island in the Canary Islands, Big Brother in Sofia, Bulgaria, and The Bachelor in Rhodes. Be prepared for a demanding yet rewarding experience.

Ongoing Development and Feedback

Following the practical trimester, you’ll return to Brno for another three months of theoretical training. This period focuses on refining your presentation skills, advancing your project, and learning from top professionals in the field. Regular evaluations provide valuable feedback on your progress and areas for improvement.

In July, you will have a month off to relax and recharge before tackling the final stretch of the year. By the end of the program, you’ll focus solely on your project and preparing for assignments, with your mentor providing guidance. Effective time management might even allow for another internship opportunity to gain more experience.

The second year mirrors the first but shifts focus to fiction production. You’ll continue with the same structure of theoretical and practical training, culminating in a final project.

The program is free but requires a significant time commitment. Scholarships are available for students who meet the requirements and excel in their studies. Successful graduates often secure positions with TV Nova or TV Markíza.
