Developing a Pitch Idea for Successful CME Content Academy Admissions
Are you excited about studying at CME Content Academy? You’re just one successful admissions process away from a future in television. A key requirement is an essay on your motivation to study. Be sure to mention your past work and academic achievements relevant to your future career. Next, you’ll need to conduct a critical analysis of a television series. Finally, perhaps the most challenging, you’ll develop your own structured story idea. This must fit into two standard pages. So, how do you do it, and what shouldn’t you forget?
Start with the idea for the story itself. Consider your target audience, such as those of TV Nova or TV Markiza. What topics do you want to share with the world, and why? Once you’re clear on your theme, think about the story you want to tell. You should know where your story begins and ends, what potential it has for further development and what characters are important to your storytelling.
With a solid understanding of your characters and storyline, it’s time to decide how you want to tell your story. Will it be a movie, a short miniseries, an 8-episode series, or a long-running show? How many minutes will each episode be? Will it be live-action, animated, or venture into nonfiction and reality TV? These are crucial decisions that require careful consideration and justification.
The art of argumentation and defending your themes will be a significant part of your studies. In your structured story idea, don’t forget to explain why you want to tell this story, why now, and why it should be you. Support your claim with research, current trends, or future predictions. Also, include personal experiences that can make an ordinary story uniquely yours.
CME Content Academy, a project of TV Nova and TV Markiza, provides practical training alongside theoretical lectures at the Television Institute. The aim is to educate the next generation of TV professionals and enable them to work with these leading TV companies.
