Kick-Off of CME Content Academy Internships at Nova and Markíza – Spring 2025
The students of CME Content Academy kicked off their internships in grand style – with a week-long program full of inspiring lectures, behind-the-scenes tours, and networking with experienced professionals from both television houses. The Kick-Off took place at TV Nova and TV Markíza, both part of the CME media group, and offered students not only an insight into television operations but also the opportunity to meet the creators of the most popular shows in person.
TV Nova: Starting Off Among Sets and Newsrooms
Everything began on Monday in the cinema hall of TV Nova, where students were welcomed by Josef Müller, Executive Producer of Production and News. The opening presentation gave a glimpse into the workings of the television world and the demanding environment of news production.
After lunch, students headed to the Barrandov complex, where a guided tour of the legendary Barrandov workshops awaited them. Led by Petr Šatava, they explored the creation of film sets, carpentry, and studios used not only for Czech but also international productions.
The afternoon continued with a presentation of the Oneplay platform by Tereza Hrubá and Ondrej Zvonár, followed by an informative session about the structure of the internships. The day ended with a group dinner in Podolí – a perfect opportunity to chat and reflect in a relaxed setting.
On Tuesday, April 1st, the focus shifted to the technical side of news production. Josef Müller and his team introduced the technological background of the studio and the news equipment that students will use during their internships.
Wednesday offered a look behind the scenes of scriptwriting for television series. Magda Frydrych Gregorová, Head of the Ulice Writers' Room, and Head Writer Tomáš Vávra shared insights into the work of the writing team. This was followed by Radka Váchalová, Executive Producer of Ordinace v růžové zahradě, who introduced students to the production process of one of the most-watched Czech TV series.
After this series of lectures and experiences, the students traveled to Bratislava for the second part of the internship program at TV Markíza.
TV Markíza: Morning Show and Slovak Production Up Close
On Thursday, April 3rd, students joined the team of Teleráno early in the morning and had the unique opportunity to observe the entire process of a live broadcast. This was followed by a series of lectures and a tour of the Sľub daily drama set, giving them insight into Slovak TV production and a chance to compare it with the Czech environment.
Friday’s program started with a shared breakfast and continued with another round of lectures. After lunch, students participated in the preparation and filming of Reflex and Televízne noviny, two cornerstones of Slovak news broadcasting.
A Great Start in the World of Television
The CME Content Academy Internship Kick-Off showed students the wide scope of television production and highlighted the importance of collaboration, creativity, and technology in modern media. Both TV Nova and TV Markíza offered an open look behind the scenes and gave students an excellent foundation for their further development during the internship.
