When Adam enrolled in CME Content Academy, he had no idea his journey would take him to the sun-drenched Canary Islands, where he would become part of the team behind one of the most-watched reality shows - Love Island. Thanks to the unique blend of theory, practice, and abundant opportunities offered by the academy, he got to experience large-scale production firsthand. What was it like to be part of such a prestigious project?

A Bold Dream and the Path to It

“From the very beginning of my studies, I knew I wanted to experience something big,” says Adam, a CME Content Academy student. “I learned a lot of useful skills working on local projects, but deep down, I was craving something more adventurous—a foreign production where I could really dive into the action.”

Adam didn’t hesitate to share his ambitions with his CME Content Academy Lead, Denisa Kubová, who immediately worked on opening the door to his dream. “I knew the academy was focused on hands-on practice, but I was surprised by how quickly I received support,” Adam adds. With the academy’s connections and backing, he joined the Love Island production team under the leadership of producer Vlaďka Hocková, who instantly recognized his potential.

First Impressions of the Canary Islands

“When I landed on the island, I felt like it was all just a dream,” Adam recalls. “The breathtaking scenery, stunning beaches, and in the middle of it all, a villa full of Czechs and Slovaks. I wasn’t home, I wasn’t on vacation—but I was exactly where I wanted to be.”

Together with his classmate Ondra, Adam quickly became part of the team. Thanks to the open and welcoming attitude of the production crew, they soon felt at home. “Saying goodbye after several weeks was really hard,” Adam admits.

Behind the Scenes of a Big Show: A School of Life in Practice

One of Adam’s biggest inspirations was the showrunner, Katarína Závadová, who had an incredible grasp of everything happening on the project. “She was approving episode 33, handling the current events in the villa, preparing episode 37, and working on other projects simultaneously,” Adam says with admiration. “And yet, she still found time to answer my questions, explain everything in detail, and do it all with a smile.”

Thanks to Katarína’s guidance and the professionalism of the team, Adam gained insight into every stage of production—from briefings to editing and shooting episodes. “It was a true hands-on education that showed me what this job is all about,” he adds.​

Daily Challenges on a Sunny Island

Adam’s work wasn’t just about observing professionals—he became an essential part of the production himself. “Every day was different, and that’s what I loved most about it,” he says. “One moment I was driving a van full of props, the next I was helping prepare games in the villa or setting up locations for romantic dates.”

One unforgettable moment came when production manager Petr “threw him in at the deep end” by having him drive a van to the airport on his first day. “I was nervous, but I ended up loving it. And the island’s scenery? Simply stunning!” Adam recalls with a smile.

An Unforgettable Experience and a New Direction

The Love Island internship changed Adam’s perspective on television production. “I wasn’t initially drawn to reality shows, but now I’m completely in love with them,” he admits. “They’re stories about real people, and that’s where I found my passion. In the future, I want to focus on casting and creativity.”
